The first of spring

So happy to have the sunshine back I went for a wander across the road from the boat club to the church yard, one of the oldest sites of Christian worship in Europe. I don’t know how old the current version is but it must have been here some time.

This tree is named after Thomas Hardy, who helped disinter and move the dead to make way for the railways. The role seems fitting somehow, and if I imagine Hardy as a tree I imagine he might end up with gnarled roots growing round gravestones.
