Hello

This summer I went swimming, this summer I might have drowned, but I held my breath, kicked my feet and I moved my arms around.
Last month I shot an editorial on women with facial disfigurements, which turned out to be one of the most interesting jobs I’ve ever done. I was anxious about shooting the story, about how camera shy they might be, but they were all beautiful, confident, and relaxed. And with every one of them, I found that a few frames into the shoot I’d forgotten about the disfigurement.

Last year a car hit Emily and ran over her head. She had no face – all the bone structure was crushed. Now look at her

The surgeon is a genius, no? www.savingfaces.org – a truly impressive organization.
Finally Emma, who has body dysmorphia. She’s about five feet ten and stunning, but when she looks in the mirror she sees a monster. She didn’t want to have her face photographed.
Obviously Emma is suffering from a disorder, but her story made me think about how much we criticize ourselves physically, and how miserable it can make us.

I know its a cliche, but its true – beauty comes from within. In the end it really doesn’t matter what your face looks like.
The wine tasting we went to turned out to be a boring school trip lecture but I liked the look of the machinery

Outside, Margot starts as she means to go on….

Designer Ian Batten doing a spot of jewellery modeling for me.

The amazing Duck Baker on the South Bank after his show there last week.

Stills from a video for the lovely Lauren Pritchard

Nicky and Margot

Alex with the bingo spot accelerator, which apparently will destroy all your white blood cells but enhance your red ones. Quite impressive for what is clearly a piece of paper with some foil stuck on it

Eleanor with her bike which she can ride all by herself!
